About Blogness
Sustainable mobility, travel and tourism — explained by people who build and live it
How we move and how we travel shape our cities, our landscapes and the places we love to visit. Transport is one of the largest sources of greenhouse-gas emissions, and tourism depends on the very places it can wear out. Blogness exists to make these topics clear and practical: what works, what doesn't, and what each of us can do about it.
Blogness is written by two people. Valerio Oricchio is a licensed transportation engineer with more than fifteen years of experience in traffic engineering and rail projects in the United States and the Middle East.
Claudia Calì is a tourism and communication professional. She studied Tourism Studies and then Organisation and Marketing for Business Communication at Sapienza University of Rome, and completed a master's in Digital Marketing & E-commerce. She has worked as an assistant hotel manager on the island of Elba, in digital marketing for a thermal spa resort in Tuscany, as an event planner and as a marketing and communication manager in Rome. Speaking Italian, English and Spanish, she brings both a traveller's eye and a hospitality insider's view of what makes tourism good for guests and for the places they visit. She leads the Blogness community at blogness.org.
Together we turn technical knowledge and real journeys into articles anyone can use.
Sustainable mobility — Public transport, rail, cycling, walking and electric vehicles in plain words: how transport systems are planned, why some projects succeed and others stall, and how better mobility makes cities healthier, safer and fairer.
Responsible travel and tourism — How to choose the train over the plane, travel off-season, avoid overtourism hotspots and pick places to stay that respect local communities, with real itineraries and honest experiences.
Community — Local initiatives, shared knowledge and the people turning ideas into action where they live.
How we write — Every article is researched, cites its sources and is free to read. We explain the trade-offs instead of selling a single answer, and we update articles when the facts change.
